Quality Assurance

Our plant is certified to ISO 9002 for Quality Management System. This gives leverage in attaining the exacting Quality Assurance standard required for manufacturing 66kV Cables. The Code of practice covers:

We follow rigorous test procedures. The Tests are classified in five categories namely:

  • Product Sample Test : Cables for both type of construction i.e. Lead Sheath and Poly-Al Construction have been type tested at Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) Bangalore.
  • Type Test : at Works
  • Routine Test : at Works
  • Acceptance Test : at Works
  • Installation Test : at Site
  • Partial Design Test

Tests are conducted according to the following standard:
IE Standard Publication 60840
Tests for power cables with extruded insulation for rated voltages above 30kV
(Um=3GkV) upto150kV
(UM= 170 kV)
IS: 7098 (Part 3) - 19993

Cross-linked Polyethylene Insulated Thermoplastic Sheathed Cables Specification
IEC: 60502 -2 - 1997 (revision of IEC: 60502)

All raw materials undergo rigorous testing and qualify checks prior to use in manufacturing. High standard of house keeping is maintained at all stages beginning from compound storage, material handling system to the manufacturing process. The clean room and extrusion platform is essentially maintained at clinically clean standard.

Bending Test Die.20 (D+d) ± 5%; 3-cycles
Partial Discharge Test 1.5 U0Q< 5PC
Tan Delta, at Elevated temp. U0tC= 90º C - 50ºC, +10ºC
Heat Cycle 2 U0; 20 load cycles
Voltage Test 8/16 Hr. TC= 95ºC 5ºC, +10ºC (No Breakdown)
Partial Discharge Test 1.5 U0; Q<5PC
Impulse Voltage with stand test 325 kV
High Voltage (a.c) Test 2.5 U0 (15 min)
High Voltage (a.c) special Test 3 U0 (4 Hrs)
Water Penetration Test 31.10 cycles 8/16 tC = 90ºC +5ºC 90ºC, -5ºC, +5ºC 1m.
