The Cable Division of the Nicco Group's flagship company, Nicco Corporation Ltd., commenced manufacturing cables, conductors & wires in 1942 at Shyamnagar in West Bengal and subsequently the manufacturing facilities extended by setting up a unit at Baripada (Orissa). The Shyamnagar and Baripada Units are certified to ISO 9001-2000 and ISO 9002-2000 respectively. Nicco manufactures a wide range of cables. The latest addition in its product range is a series of new generation Electron Beam Irradiated Cross Linked Cables.

The cables are produced through a 3 MeV Accelerator imported from Radiation Dynamics Inc., USA. It also has a state-of-the-art Polymer Compounding Plant for manufacturing captive requirements of highly specialised compounds. Nicco's strength has been in its capability to manufacture highly specialised cables. Nicco's R&D cell plays a pivotal role developing new categories of cable. The R&D cell centred at Shyamnagar is recognised by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.
